P1 Finish
Mitchell Williams steered the #16 truck to victory at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway on Thursday night, earning his second win of the season in the OGRL Old Guy Racing League's NASCAR Trucks Series. Williams started from P2 and led 146 of 250 laps in a race that saw 13 lead changes and 18 cautions consume 72 laps, making survival as important as speed. The win was far from clean — Williams carried 8 incidents across the distance — but when it counted, the #16 was the class of the field.
Behind Williams, Javier Zapata delivered a standout run in the #24, charging from P11 to finish second and earning his first series podium. Zapata kept his incident count to just 4, among the cleanest of any driver in the top ten on a night when not a single one of the 25 starters finished with a clean sheet. Jeremiah Mullins rounded out the podium in the #78, and his story was one of the most compelling of the evening — starting from deep in the field at P20, Mullins accumulated 12 incidents but ultimately claimed P3 and the race's Hard Charger award with a gain of 17 positions. Pole sitter Wyatt Collins had a night to forget, leading 29 laps in the #23 before falling back to P12 by the checkered flag, a swing of 11 positions in the wrong direction.
The championship picture shifted meaningfully after Thursday's result. Brandon Cowell continues to lead the standings with 197 points after bringing the #85 home eighth — a steady run that included 72 laps led — while Williams's win vaulted him to second in the standings at 190 points, just 7 behind Cowell. Richard Modrich sits third at 169 points after a P9 finish in the #71, falling four spots from where he started, putting him 28 points back of the leader. Williams is now the clear threat to Cowell's points advantage heading into the next round.
Further down the order, the carnage was significant. Brent Just fell 14 positions from P4 to P18 in the #93, while Ricky Riley dropped 10 spots from P3 to P13 in the #17. Richard Leclerc provided one of the more quietly impressive runs of the night, climbing 14 positions from P24 to P10 in the #117. With William Bowman sitting fourth in points at 157 and Charlie Stutzman fifth at 153, the fight for position behind Cowell and Williams remains tightly contested, and Nashville made clear that in this series, no night — and no lead — is safe.
