Round 5 of the Old Guy Racing League NASCAR Trucks series at Charlotte Motor Speedway belonged to #16 Mitchell Williams, who started from the pole and led 84 of 100 laps en route to the victory. Williams, who had yet to win this season entering Charlotte, now has his first win of the 2026 campaign to go alongside his 52 all-time wins in the series. The race featured five cautions for 15 laps and four lead changes across the 27-truck field, giving the event plenty of shape before Williams ultimately brought home the trophy. Williams also crossed the finish line as one of only two drivers to run the entire race without a single incident.
Behind Williams, #85 Brandon Cowell delivered a strong run from his 11th starting spot to finish second, picking up nine positions over the course of the afternoon and leading one lap along the way. Cowell, who enters the round as the series points leader and now carries 126 points, extended his advantage at the top of the standings with a consistent, clean-enough effort. #6 Caleb Pocock rounded out the podium in third, advancing four spots from his P7 starting position and also completing the race without an incident, earning him the distinction of being one of the two clean drivers on the day.
The hard charger award belonged to #72 Clyde Cunfer, who was arguably the most impressive mover on the track. Starting dead last in 27th, Cunfer drove the #72 truck all the way to a 10th-place finish — a gain of 17 positions — while navigating nine incidents along the way. That is a remarkable recovery through a 27-truck field with five caution periods to manage. Also worth noting was #99 Kevin Boley, who started 14th and climbed to fourth, and #97 William Bowman, who came from 13th to fifth, both contributing to a highly active mid-pack battle. On the losing end of position changes, #23 Wyatt Collins had a rough afternoon, falling 23 spots from his third starting position all the way to 26th at the finish.
In the championship picture, Cowell now leads Williams by 14 points, with Pocock tied with Williams at 112 points — just two points behind Cowell. #71 Richard Modrich sits fourth at 105 points, and #17 Ricky Riley is fifth with 98. Williams' win tightens what is already a remarkably compressed fight at the top, and with Pocock's podium keeping him locked in alongside Williams, all three drivers remain genuine contenders heading into the remainder of the season.
