Sean Reilly turned a strong qualifying effort into race-winning gold at the Algarve International Circuit on Sunday, piloting the #97 machine to victory in Round 9 of the GT3-Coffee Cup. Starting from pole, Reilly led 30 of 32 laps around the Portuguese circuit in a race that saw three lead changes and not a single caution flag across the full distance. It was Reilly's second win of the season and sixth all-time in the series, a result that underlines his pace even if the championship picture remains someone else's battle to control.

Behind Reilly, the fight for second was where the race came alive. Alex Claudio brought the #20 car from fifth on the grid to a runner-up finish — a result that, given his 0-for-all-time record in series wins, represented his strongest showing to date without the data to call it a series first. Cole Modrich in the #5 held third from his third-place starting spot, collecting 60 points, while Bradley Tidwell's #89 surrendered two spots from his front-row start to settle for fourth after briefly holding the lead for one lap.

The hard charger award belonged to #14 Carlos Ruiz Padilla, who advanced six positions from 17th on the grid to an 11th-place finish. Ruiz Padilla's run was made more impressive given that not a single driver in a 25-car field completed the race without an incident — he did so with just two incidents, the cleanest sheet among the top finishers. Fellow chargers #10 Shajee Zuhair (+5) and #11 Carlos Ruiz Padilla's neighbor in the results, Pernell Hanelt (+3), also pushed through traffic, while #17 Alan Purser had the day to forget, tumbling 16 positions from fourth on the grid to 20th at the flag.

In the standings, Bradley Tidwell's fourth-place points haul keeps him firmly atop the table with 515 points, but a 53-point advantage over second-placed David Ven Roy — who gained three spots on track to finish fifth — is far from comfortable. Jonathan Williams sits third at 433 points despite an eighth-place finish, with Quinten Price fourth at 428 and Alex Claudio's podium vaulting him to fifth at 423 points. With the top five separated by 92 points and multiple rounds remaining, the title fight is very much alive heading away from Portugal.
