The Old Guy Racing League's Legends Series opened its season at Langley Speedway on Wednesday night with a chaotic, incident-filled round that saw nine cautions fly over 40 laps and the lead swap hands thirteen times before #16 Mitchell Williams took the checkered flag from his P4 starting spot. Williams, who entered the night without a win on the season, carved through the field and led 12 of the 40 laps to claim the victory and 60 points — the maximum available — to sit atop the standings heading into Round 2. It was his eighth all-time win in the Legends Series.

The runner-up spot belonged to #23 Wyatt Collins, who was arguably the most active driver on the track all night. Starting from P8, Collins charged forward to finish second and led a race-high 14 laps, more than any other car in the field. The result was worth 58 points for Collins, who left Langley just two points behind Williams in the early standings — an incredibly tight gap that sets up what could be a compelling points battle as the series gets underway. Collins' 14 incidents, however, will be a point of concern as the series progresses.

The performance of the night belonged to #31 Scott Carlson, who earned Hard Charger honors after launching from the back of the 12-car grid in P12 all the way to a P3 finish — a gain of nine positions. Carlson navigated the carnage of nine cautions to bank 46 points in his first win of the season and series, finishing just ahead of #21 Jacob Carter in P4 and #1 Harold Rothery in P5. Pole sitter #72 Clyde Cunfer had the worst night of any front-row starter, falling from P1 all the way back to P11 over the course of 40 laps, picking up 8 incidents along the way despite leading 3 laps early in the race.

With only one driver — race winner Mitchell Williams — completing the race without a single incident, the contact-heavy opening round at Langley proved to be a sorting event right from the start. Williams leads Collins by 2 points, Rothery sits third at 47, Carlson fourth at 46, and Carter fifth at 44 — five drivers separated by just 16 points after a single round. The Legends Series title fight is already razor-thin.
