Summit Point Raceway

Round 5 of the GT3-Coffee Cup series at Summit Point Raceway produced one of the tightest finishes of the season, with #911 Kiko Lacalle taking the victory over #4 David Ven Roy by the slimmest of margins in a race that saw just one lead change across 49 clean, caution-free laps. Lacalle, who started from the second position, grabbed the lead at some point during the contest and held it for 34 of the race's 49 laps to claim what is his first win of the season and his first all-time in the GT3-Coffee Cup series. Pole-sitter #20 Alex Claudio led the opening 15 laps before surrendering the advantage, eventually crossing the line in third despite carrying seven incidents — the most of any driver on the podium.

David Ven Roy in the #4 machine delivered a composed run from fourth on the grid to finish second with just one incident on his card, making his the cleanest race among the front-runners. Ven Roy has eight all-time wins in this series to his name but has yet to visit victory lane this season, and Sunday's runner-up result keeps him on the outside of the top five in the standings. Fourth place went to #89 Bradley Tidwell, who advanced three positions from his P7 starting spot and ended the day with five incidents. #10 Shajee Zuhair rounded out the top five by holding his starting position throughout, while #771 Raul Gabriel Pasta and #17 Alan Purser — two of only three drivers to finish with zero incidents — collected sixth and seventh respectively.

The hard charger award belongs to #27 Dustin Dias, who launched from 25th on the grid and carved his way through the 28-car field to finish 17th, a gain of eight positions over the course of 49 laps. Among those moving the wrong direction, #11 Pernell Hanelt had the roughest afternoon of anyone in the field — the driver who started third tumbled all the way to 19th, a swing of 16 positions accompanied by 14 incidents, the joint-worst incident count alongside #32 Robert Sackett. #18 Carlos Villarejo also dropped six spots from 12th to 18th, while #306 Damijan Horvatin's 11 incidents did little to tell the story of a driver who still managed to recover from P11 to finish eighth.

In the standings, Lacalle's win vaults him to the top of the GT3-Coffee Cup table with 299 points, five clear of Tidwell in second at 294. Claudio's podium keeps him third on 268 points, but the 31-point gap separating him from Lacalle means the top of the order is far from settled. Jonathan Williams sits fourth on 262 points, and Raul Gabriel Pasta rounds out the top five with 256, leaving a tight and compelling battle ahead as the series continues.
